Our Gotland Wool Roving comes from the special Gotland sheep in Sweden. It's a shiny silver-grey wool that's perfect for many craft projects.
This is a coarse, 31-micron wool fibre. We process it into a smooth, worsted form that's good for spinning, weaving, and especially felting. When you felt Gotland wool, you get a dense, tough fabric. It's a top pick for sturdy items like hats, slippers, or bags. Plus, the natural grey shades vary from silver to charcoal, which gives your felted items a unique look.
Gotland wool is also known for its curl and texture. This gives your projects a rich depth. But keep in mind, it's a bit harder to felt than smoother, finer wools. So, it's best suited for crafters with some experience.
Remember, felting results can change based on the techniques and processes you use. And each piece of Gotland wool can be a bit different because it's a natural product.
When we talk about wool's 'fineness' in micromillimeters (mic), we're talking about the diameter of each individual fibre. The smaller the number, the finer the wool.
