This listing is for heavy-weight single jersey – top quality Swiss-made waldorf doll making fabric. 100% Cotton.
1/2 meter (50cm/19″) length by 165 cm (65″) width – tubular knit
Tubular knit means that there is no selvage on the fabric — it is a tube that you can cut open if desired.
The manufacturer has been making this doll skin for many decades and this skin is considered the preferred quality by many professional doll makers worldwide.
The heavier weight fabric can be used to make the whole doll, or just the body of a large doll (with the lighter weight for the head, as it stretches easier and give more definition to the facial features). As a single jersey, it has a right and a wrong side. It has less stretch than the lighter-weight fabric, but it also pills less and is smoother in appearance.
The fabric is manufactured in Switzerland to Öko-Tex Standard 100 (which guarantees no off bleeding of colours – hence safe for children to put into their mouth).
When choosing the color, please remember that jersey colours become lighter once they are stretched by your wool stuffing!
The colours will appear in a slight different tone, depending on your monitor display.
The third photo in this listing shows a doll that has the head covered in the lighter weight fabric and the body in the heavier weight.
The company manufactures more colour in the heavy weight than in the light weight fabric.
